Minoc's mine goes down past where the miners stopped. Something in the rock has been keeping the door. The Heart of the Mountain is his first gate, not the bottom.
Twelve floors make three strata, each ending with a boss. The Workings lead to the Heart on floor 4; the Banked Forges to the Banked Fire on floor 8; the Lodestone Choir to the Warden's Voice on floor 12.
The lampmen's camps
The Banked Gate Camp follows floor 4. The Choir Door Camp follows floor 8. Both offer rest, supplies and the lift home. Agna Hale, the lampman's widow, waits among their lamps.
