Alpha v0.9.8.9

October 13, 2026

Wildfire in a wheat field. A test scene on a private server: the spell was given to the character for the demonstration, not found in the Deep.

New

  • The Arcane Codex. A second spellbook, beside the classic one. Learn any of its spells and the Codex is thine; each page is learned once and cast with Magery and reagents like any other spell.
  • Fire Ring. Seventh circle. Twelve columns of flame stand in a ring round a point for eight seconds. Anyone who crosses is burned and slowed for two seconds. Dispel opens a gap. Sold by mage vendors to those with Magery 90.
  • Tremor. Sixth circle. A ridge of rubble rises in a line toward thy target and stands for twenty seconds, leaving gaps where bodies stood. Those on the line are hurt and slowed. It knocks down stone and energy walls in its way, and reopens collapsed passages for a minute. The miner's note in the Old Stopes leads to it.
  • Wildfire. Seventh circle. A seed of fire lights dry ground, and the fire spreads on its own through grass, wood, webs and wheat. Every burning patch hurts whoever stands in it, thee included. Water, stone and snow stop it, and rain slows it. Its page lies in the Founders' Cache in the Banked Forges, deep in the Warden's Deep.
  • Hail Storm. Sixth circle. Hail falls for six seconds and hurts everyone under it. Fire beneath goes out, and the ground and water freeze for twelve seconds: thou canst walk across frozen water, feet slide a step on the ice and casting there is slower. Its page is in Tamsin's survey cache, high in Wyrm's Rest.
  • Wheat burns. Fields of wheat catch, burn down to stubble and ash, and grow back over the next few hours of the day.
  • Moonreach, rebuilt. The observatory town now sits round a still mere, the Mirror, with the Great Glass on its island. Turn the Glass's brass wheel and it swings to a new bearing while the stars show in the water below. The first turn of each night names the sign, and that lair's leader walks star-marked.
  • The road to Ashfall. The Anchor Road runs east through scorched woods to Ashfall's west gate. Across the river ford lie the black shore, the lava and the drake's ledge.

Changed

  • Moonreach's wall stops thee. Its land wall, the Land Gate and the walls of the Wren farmhouse outside it are solid, as they look.
