- Vesper's bridges swing. Four of the canal bridges now have a middle span that swings open between its stone piers. Every few minutes a ship rings its bell and sails through, and for about a minute the gap is open water. Mind where thou standest.
- The punters. Say "punt" at either landing of a swing bridge and a punter poles thee across for 3 gold.
- Old Wick's lamp run. Take Old Wick's taper and light the six canal lamps: 8 gold a lamp, and 100 gold from his purse if thou lightest them all before his bell (less for later runs that day).
- Bilge rats. When a span swings back, rats come ashore off the ship. Judd pays 6 gold a tail.
- The landings, dressed. The busiest landings are busier, and Master Keel's hull sits on the shipyard slipway.
